ABOUT THE POSITION

The Accounting Manageris primarily responsible for oversight of the financial close process and the cost accounting/inventory accounting functions for the Company along with general reconciliations, accruals, and other accounting entries as needed. This position compiles and analyzes data to determine costs of business activities and produces timely and accurate reporting and will be the primary support for the annual financial audit process. This highly collaborative position reports to the Controller and works closely with members of the accounting, sales, and operations departments.

The ideal candidate will have an excellent grasp of cost accounting principles and will be a cross-functional thought partner in the operations, sales and finance areas. Also, the ideal candidate will have the energy and passion to succeed in an exciting post-startup environment.

Bay Area candidates preferred. This position is primarily remote. However, the team is Bay Area-based which allows for periodic onsite meetings.

ABOUT YOU

  • Solid grasp of cost accounting principles and GAAP including accruals, standard costs, BOMs and finance leases.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • ERP Experience with IFS or Oracle preferred.
  • SQL a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior accounting manager experience.
  • Accounting and business analysis experience preferably in a manufacturing or food processing industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Owns the oversight of the financial close process including reporting, variance analysis, reconciliations and journal entry support as required ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Provides oversight of team members performing AP and AR cash application and transaction processing.
  • Establishes and analyzes standard costs and reviews the standard cost roll-ups for new products and new production operations; investigates and resolves material variances prior to finalization of rolling standards.

  • Creates and Maintains Bill of Materials (BOMs), including labor hours, through tight cross-collaboration with Operations and R&D.
  • Provides management with various reports and forward-thinking insight surrounding unit economics.
  • Key owner and story-teller of the manufacturing, material, labor and overhead variances and the manufacturing yields.
  • Monitors and updates all manufacturing-related general ledgers; including posting, journal entry research, reconciliations, and supporting schedule monitoring, where necessary.
  • Assists with physical inventory counts, as deemed necessary.
  • Assists with budget and forecast processes, such as calculating labor and overhead rates.
  • Performs ad hoc product/plant cost analysis to support the operations.
  • Continuously improves and implements accounting policies and procedures, under the direction of the Controller.
  • Prepare audit schedules for external auditors and act as a liaison between the company and the auditors.
  • Assist with tax filings.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range - $120,000 - $150,000 depending upon experience and location.
